A lot of people may not realize it, but there’s also a Disneyland in Hong Kong. This is a great place to take the kids if you’re ever there. It’s a pretty popular place, but probably nothing will equal the American one. However, the Hong Kong Version also has quite a lot of adventures and attractions that are specifically aimed at Hong Kong culture and history.
The Disneyland is made up of four different areas that come with magical-type themes. They’re called Main Street U.S.A. Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. The grounds also have a couple of themed hotels along with a good variety of restaurants. Of course there are some shops where you can buy Disneyland memorabilia and souvenirs to take home with you.
One of the favourite things for the kids to do is take the boat ride. Along the ride the kids will be able to see some singing dolls that are dressed up in some pretty colourful costumes. They’re also singing about peace, friendship, and love, which the world could definitely use more of for sure. Like all the other Disneylands in the world, the park also puts on some pretty entertaining live shows.
The kids also get a thrill out of the parades and festivals and they can actually learn a little bit about the country’s culture by watching them. And to top things off there’s a fireworks display held every day which gets both the youngsters and adult’s attention. Some of the parades are set around themes and times of the year such as Christmas and Halloween.
Things can get pretty hot sometimes in Hong Kong, and if they do, the grounds also have some great water-themed attractions that can be used to cool you down. Disneyland’s only been open there for a few years, but it’s already known as a pretty major attraction in Hong Kong and a good way to spend a day with the kids in tow.
It’s pretty easy to get to as it’s in Penny's Bay, Lantau Island. Buses, taxis and trains all go out there. The Disney characters speak in English as well as Chinese, with Cantonese, and Mandarin dialects. It might not be the biggest Disneyland around, but it’s a good size and there are plans to expand it sometime soon by adding on three more areas to it.
The prices are pretty reasonable and if you’d like to go, it’s probably best to buy tickets online. If you’re going to be in Hong Kong for an extended visit, you can also get season passes. The park is open from 10:30am to 7:30pm so there’s plenty of time to see some of the shows and have something to eat there.
So if you ever do find yourself in Hong Kong with nothing to do one day, it’s a highly recommended place to go and have some fun and to feel young again, at least for a day.
